About us

Lucite International has Liaison Offices in China located in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou respectively. Lucite International (China) Chemical Industry Company Limited was formed in September 2003, and Lucite International (Shanghai) Trading Company Limited was formed in August 2004 in Shanghai Wai Gao Qiao Free Trade Zone to enable trade of downstream products and inspire an increasingly diverse China Market.

Lucite International (China) Chemical Industry Company Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lucite International, announced the opening of its state-of-the-art MMA plant with total investment at 1.12 hundred millions US dollars on October 25, 2005. The new MMA plant is located at Shanghai Chemical Industrial Park, Caojing, Shanghai, current capacity is 93,000 t/a., according to the design, it can be expanded to 150,000 t/a without a need of significant capital.

Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) is the building block for many products. It polymerizes easily to form resins and polymers of excellent transparency, strength and outdoor durability and can be co-polymerized with other monomers to form a broader range of products typically used for coating, textile, adhesive and inks. Lucite International manufactures MMA from acetone cyanohydrin (ACH), the most widely used commercial process. Caojing plant uses the same process. The ACH route uses acetone, methanol and hydrocyanic acid (HCN). Handling materials like hydrocyanic acid (HCN) requires considerable safety expertise, an area in which Lucite International has many years of experience and a strong reputation of SHE performance.

Lucite International (Shanghai) Trading Company Limited, a wholly foreign-owned trading company, specializes in MMA, nBMA, iBMA, MAA, PMMA, Resin, Sheets for Kitchens, Baths, Sinks and General Purpose. It trades domestically and internationally .

The Liaison Offices in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou coordinate and develop Lucite International's downstream and upstream products in the Chinese market facing to Central China, North China and South China respectively and strive to achieve outstanding value and performance for all customers.
